What is BISP?

BISP is a short name for the Benazir Income Support Program. It is a flagship social safety net initiative in Pakistan aimed at providing financial assistance to the country’s most vulnerable populations. Established in 2008 by the Government of Pakistan, the program was named after Benazir Bhutto, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, to reduce poverty, empower women, and improve social welfare. 

BISP operates through cash transfers to eligible beneficiaries, primarily focusing on households living below the poverty line. It is considered one of the largest social protection programs in Pakistan, playing a significant role in addressing socio-economic disparities and promoting inclusive development across the nation.

What is the Vision and Mission of the Benazir Income Support Program?

The Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) has a big goal or vision. It wants to help poor families in Pakistan. The mission, or job, of BISP, is to give money to these families so they can buy things they need, like food and clothes.

Types of BISP Grants in 2024

Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) has further types of grants for tackling different sectors of the country. Here are the names of these grants:

• Benazir Kafalt Program
• Benazir Nashonuma Program
• Benazir Taleemi Wazaif

Benazir Kafalt Program: This program focuses on providing support to orphaned children and vulnerable families who have lost their primary breadwinners. Through financial assistance and other forms of support, the Benazir Kafalt Program aims to ensure that orphaned children receive the care and resources they need to thrive. Additionally, it extends assistance to families facing economic hardships due to the loss of their main provider, helping them overcome financial difficulties and secure a better future.

Benazir Nashonuma Program: The Benazir Nashonuma Program is designed to address malnutrition among infants and young children in Pakistan. It provides nutritional support, healthcare services, and education to pregnant women and children under the age of two. By focusing on early childhood development and nutrition, this program aims to reduce child mortality rates, improve overall health outcomes, and ensure that children have a healthy start in life.

Benazir Taleemi Wazaif: The Benazir Taleemi Wazaif program aims to enhance educational opportunities for children from disadvantaged backgrounds. It provides financial assistance to families to support the education-related expenses of their children, including school fees, books, uniforms, and other educational materials. By promoting access to education and reducing financial barriers, this program aims to empower children from marginalized communities and enable them to pursue their academic aspirations, ultimately contributing to their socio-economic development and prospects.

How to Apply for BISP Payments on the 8171 Web Portal?

1. Visit the 8171 web portal by typing “8171.bisp.gov.pk” into your web browser’s address bar and pressing Enter.
2. You will be prompted to enter your CNIC (Computerized National Identity Card) number. Type your CNIC number into the designated field accurately.
3. Next, you will need to solve the CAPTCHA (a security feature to ensure you’re a human user and not a bot). Enter the characters or numbers shown in the CAPTCHA image into the provided box.
4. After successfully completing the CAPTCHA, look for the “Maloom Karen” button. Click on it to proceed with your application.
5. Follow any additional instructions or prompts provided on the screen to complete your application for BISP payments.
6. Once you’ve submitted your application, make sure to keep track of any further communication or updates from BISP regarding the status of your application.
